Tania and I got to the Creative Alliance just in time to watch Carlos giving beginners instructions in the lobby, and Sharna with an intermediate class on the dance floor. They're both great to watch.

The Creative Alliance building was very nice. Plenty of room. A small, but well stocked bar. And CLEAN BATHROOMS. Perfect facility. The dance floor however, was exceptional. It was a nice medium size. A bit cozy, but not at all crowded. The band Champagne Tango played, but not very much. They were good but their breaks were rather frequent and long. The canned music was good. Old time favorites.

If we're lucky, there will be more milongas planned at this venue. It was a good, intimate tango night. I'll see you all there at the next event.

P.S. Tania and I are finally starting to feel coordinated. Trying a bit of each lesson that Carlos taught and we see improvement. Next thing you know, We'll be dancing in B.A.

New Tango Group in !Yahoo

Carlos and Tova have started a new tango group in !Yahoo. What a concept. I remember in Alex Kreb's class in the DC Tango Marathon, he said that Tango was a twisty dance. He even started the class with a little Chuck Berry.

We did a little Calecita and Molinete. It was great. Such a nice feeling for the leader when the follower is responding and adding a little spice to the dance. This is where I feel what seems to be the essence of the Tango. No wonder it's so compelling.

Gotta tango, no need food, no need sleep. hmmmmmmm.

Went fishing

Well, folks. Yes, my back did hurt when it was over. We drove all the way around the Eubie Blake center and finally spiralled our way in as we attempted to navigate the one way streets here in Baltimore City - like a couple of vultures descending towards the desert floor.

The class was good. Nice energy, everyone was trying. Carlos was in a particularly good humor and his energy bled off onto everyone else. We worked on forwards and backwards ochos. Then circular steps, man inside and man outside. The we incorporated all of them to lead into and out of the ochos with the circular steps.

Apparently, we're headed towards a molinete and cucina. Should be a great class. See everyone there next week.

Time to get started

OK, now maybe I've figured out this weblogger thing a little bit. Now that the preliminaries are out of the way, let's get on to the Tango.

Tonight is the first class for Carlos Moreno's Circularity Class. Can't wait. Carlos' teaching has been first class and I can't wait to see what I get out of this one (finished the fundamentals class one week ago today).

I just need to finish a sign to hang on my chest "Danger, no hanging on arms! Damage may result to leader." Then again, what's a beginner's class without back pain?

I'll let you know how tonight shapes up and whether Tania suffers any foot injuries due to inattention on my part.

What are we waiting for?
